for its premier release, division point industries is proud to announce a 4-track ep by rolling ones, a collaborative project featuring johannes auvinen (tin man) and jordan poling (jordan). rolling ones finds its voice in the synthesis of each artist s sound, combining tin man s acidic melodies with jordan s deep, textural pads. debuting at the division point industries residency at bushwick s notorious bossa nova civic club, rolling ones marked their arrival by playing a dj back-to-back set. opening the record is 93 mustang , a muscular, no-nonsense roller built around deep wells of warm bass and slick-piston percussion. as it builds, tin man s signature acidic squelch dances in the remaining space, giving the track a sense of both life and depth. next is faded delorian , an abyssal burner that refracts its ghostly tones around a panning labyrinth of crystalline synths. on the flip is slammed cadillac , a sinewy, stripped down stomper of clattering percussion and caustic 303s. jacked up impala finishes the record as a jacking acid tool. founded by jordan poling, division point industries is a new label built on the success of a collaborative residency with cory james at brooklyn s bossa nova civic club. having hosted artists ranging from the established to the underground, division point industries has crafted a no-nonsense take on deep house and techno that is rich in history while remaining focused on the future.

the first spinning plates ep back in february was picked up by print media and radio tastemakers from ra and dj mag to b.traits and moxie, whilst djs as diverse as ivan smagghe and francois k slotted it into their dj bags. as such there has been much demand for a second release, and now it arrives in the form of a fascinating split ep from scene veteran andy rantzen and relative newcomer bruno schmidt, who helps a&r for the label. in fact it was bruno who came across andy’s tracks during a late night youtube session. andy, who remixed inxs and severed heads back in the day and is a sydney based producer who has been active for three decades, had upped a load of his old demos to youtube in the faint hope that one day someone might find them. and damn are we happy he did, because they are brilliant affairs that sound like little else. for his part, bruno has been a louche resident and hifi creator alongside andrew james gustav and gwenan and delivers an exceptional stripped down late night trip/early morning trip.

six years after his mila ep, uk techno artist lee renance, better known as 100hz with james chapman, is finally back on bosconi with another strong 3 tracker release called -circles-, a combination of very sought-after gems and reworks of old tunes: the record begins with the gentleness of the groovy and jazzy vibe of that mega rare undergound deep anthem named -shoot the bar-, a track originally out in 1998 on pacific records which many people have been probably waiting since long time for a repress, while on b side the artist presents himself under one of his more obscure aliases as mr format, going trough more voodooish and hypnotic dub techno territories with a pitched down version of primary colours track, an undiscovered and carefully crafted secret weapon previously released on his own imprint format records. last cut of the record is a totally renovated version of the track oliva out in 2009 on the greatest french logistic records. in this new version , “oliva funk” epic strings and pads merge with compelling and engaging beats creating a levitating effect which drive the mind and the mood of the dancefloor into dreamy soundscapes. you ll make it yours.

the album is a soundtrack of music inspired by the movie rubble kings and is out globally via mass appeal records. produced by longtime run the jewels collaborator little shalimar, the album features appearances from bun b, ghostface killah, killer mike, tunde adebimpe, mr muthaf*kin exquire, boldy james, cuz lightyear, ka and roxiny, in addition to run the jewels. scoring the film was the first time little shalimar set out to make period music. half of the music on this album was taken directly from the score and is heavily indebted to ‘60s and ‘70s soul and funk music. for the new tunes shalimar sampled joints from the score and created new beats out of them.

keeping up the urgent pace set by the strength in numbers collection, thema now turns to a modern master of the jakbeat, d’marc cantu. hailing from ann arbor on the fringes of detroit, cantu has worked for more than a decade developing a sound that carries the torch from the box jam originators of techno and house music. his first appearances were alongside the mighty tadd mullinix (better known as james t. cotton) with their 2 am/fm project, before bringing traxx into the fold for the x2 venture. as a solo artist cantu has shored up on labels as highly regarded as crème organization, m>o>s, nation and desire, bringing a rich, full-bodied sound laden with powerful synth hooks, crafty drum programming and a live, jammed-out delivery that overflows with imagination. given his adventurous tendencies and punchy midwestern finish, cantu is a perfect fit on thema and the six tracks that make up this record show a great deal of the diversity the man is capable of, from dancefloor burners to atmospheric introspections.

marc cerrone became the star of incredible live experiences in paris and elsewhere. as if, after having spent the first step of his musical career elaborating his repertoire, he’d chosen to devote the second one to make it live permanently. firstly on stage, then through younger generations: when bob sinclar samples his music or invites him to collaborate, it’s a new way for cerrone to keep his main ability alive: make crowds dance. a talent which most of his younger fans - todd terje, prins thomas, james murphy and a whole generation of cosmic disco lovers - agree to and get inspiration from. from 1976 to 2014, cerrone, whose discography makes so many others jealous, never stopped playing and keeping his beat which he considers vital. and if disco music had to be summarized to one artist, one creator, it would be him and nobody else. this exclusive double lp sounds like a tribute to his prolific discography, containing incredible remixes talented producers. a cd with all tracks is included.
